There's a new layer of snow on the ground, it's the start of a new year and a new decade and we've finally released our new website to the online world (sorry for the wait!), so lots of new things have happened already this year and we're only a couple of days in.
The weather is a favourite topic of us Brits so not to disappoint a stereotype we're going to talk about it a little. Seriously though the last time we had this much snow across the whole country Pac-Man was eating all our lunch money and Michael Knight was a hero in a talking car (still awesome). According to the headlines it's set to be the coldest winter in 30 years and if you look at the image on the right you can see why, the whole country is white!
The snow does have a magical ability to unlock the child in everyone and we say embrace it! Go grab a tea tray, find the nearest hill and pretend your trying out for the UK bobsled team. Or if you fancy yourself as the artistic type, try and build the biggest snowman you can. We had a go, but under estimated how heavy a snowball that comes up to your hip would be, and snowball fights soon diverted our attention from the task at hand.
The government has decided to give us all a helping hand with a free iPhone app designed to give live road and traffic updates, it can also let you know about delays on public transport and a reason why.
The data is streamed in real-time and covers all of Britain and as you can see from the screen shots it's presented in a clear, colourful and shivering-hand-friendly way.
Thanks!
